Department of Labor Where Does the Money Go?

A Department of Labor visualization showing where Americans are spending their money (annual numbers). The data is very interesting. The visualization is nice and colorful. Unfortunately, you need to work pretty hard to extract the information. The display mechanism is effectively a pie chart. I bet a different display would show off the data much better.

If anyone wants to take a stab displaying this data more effectively, I would be happy to post your results here.
