I stumbled upon a collection of 22 cool infographics that represent the relationships between the main characters of the 1962 movie Jules et Jim by Truffaut.

I’ve pulled a few of my favorites and included them below.

Big Fluctuations

This visualization has the three protagonists set on the three poles of the circumference, dividing the circle in slices, each representing the relationship between the character and their neighbor.

Each concentric ring represents a single moment of the story.

Each moment maps the relationship through two values: the emotional involvement of the character (length of the arc) and the positive or negative feeling (color of the arch). The lighter the color, the more positive the feeling.

This graphic aims to visualize the relations within the characters through the use of 3D shapes.

Time passing is represented from top to bottom as the lines of each character get closer, their relationship gets stronger and stronger.

Easy Jules

This visualization uses Jules, who generally prefers to stay calm, as a straight line around which the other main characters, Jim and Catherine, move.

The nine phases of the triangle relationship are reported like a loop which occurs several times during the story.

Predictable Catherine

This visualization tries to represent some important feelings that Catherine, the protagonist of the film, experienced with Jim and Jules.
