The Visual Dictionary is a collection of photographs of single words photographed from signage, advertising, graffiti, packaging, menus, and any other real world place. All of the images were contributed by site users.
Why do this? The site designer, Matthew Knight, wanted to pursue what he considered a nice idea which would “be visually stimulating and interesting.” Frequently, contributors leave behind the back story of the image. While a picture may be worth a thousand words, this site contains 4 thousand pictures each worth one word.
