The last of the four visualization I found on The World Almanac 2007 is related to Gun Deaths in America.
The visualization is certainly on an important topic and I find it eye catching. Unfortunately, I believe the techniques obscure the data. Each bullet represents 40 deaths. There are many alternate graphical representations that could have conveyed more information. I had to work too hard with this visualization to extract meaning. What do you think?

“I had to work too hard with this visualization to extract meaning.”
It seems to me one meaning almost immediately jumps off the page — guns don’t kill people, guns help adult white males kill themselves. It’s surprising to me that this is what overwhelms the whole chart.
