The Geography of a Recession - Unemployment Rates by County

A very effective, time-lapse, heat-map overlay to a map of the United States shows the unemployment rates by county over time, January 2007 to September 2009.

The time lapse aspect of the visualization on the source site is extremely effective. I wish it was possible to pause or rewind the visualization.
