A dashboard is a visual display of the most important information needed to achieve one or more objectives; consolidated, contextualized, and arranged on a single screen so the information can be monitored at a glance.
- The means is a single-screen display
- The purpose is to efficiently keep in touch with the information needed to do something

Attributes of Effective Dashboards:
- Metrics or KPI’s: In most cases, dashboards are all about clearly defined measurements
- High-Level Summaries: Quickly tells you what’s happening
- Concise, clear, and intuitive display mechanisms
- Customized: Tailored specifically to the requirements of a given person, group, or function
PORTAL:

A portal is simply a central access point of information. Portals present information from diverse sources using a single, unified launching point.
A good example of a widely used web portal is the iGoogle homepage.
