Top 15 Infographic Videos on the Web – Part 1

December 19th, 2007 | by Nathan |

My recent fascination with infographics has led me to discover a small set of quality infographic videos. While many of these videos have been available for quite a while, I wanted to see if I couldn’t compile some of the best and get them all in one place.

Information graphics or infographics are visual representations of information, data or knowledge. These graphics are used anywhere where information needs to be explained quickly or simply.

By no means is this list official or exhaustive. If you find any other cool infographic driven videos (YouTube or not), please let me know so I can update this list or just add to it!

Also, I don’t necessarily endorse the messages contained in these videos but merely appreciate the medium in which the message is being delivered.

So, without further ado, please enjoy some of the best infographic videos on the web:

1. Royksopp - Remind Me

I have to post this one first as it’s the probably the most popular infographic video on the net and admittedly very entertaining.

…an infographic-styled video by French company H5 for the track “Remind Me”, won the 2002 MTV Europe Music Award for best music video.

2. Areva

Look similar to the video for Royksopp’s Remind Me? It should as the infographics were developed by the same French company H5.

3. Areva ERP

Here’s another video for the company this time selling EPR, the advanced reactor.

4. Airport

Finally breaking from H5’s infographic stylings…

The animated story of one man’s epic journey, created entirely from public domain symbols. In other words, an airport story told in the language of airport infographics.

5. Information Technology

An animated bumper created for a television program about Information Technology. The various animation components were created in Illustrator, 3D Studio Max, and Photoshop and composited and assembled with Adobe After Effects.

6. Been Caught Stealing: Earmarks Revealed

Motion/info graphics piece on the outrageous practice of political earmarking, which contributes to our out-of-control national debt.

7. Pork Corp

An occasionally stomach-turning infographic tribute to the pork industry.

I had a great time putting this post together as it involved watching a bunch of cool videos that never failed to pique my interest.

Unfortunately, I’m very aware of the amount of incredible content out there and even more aware of my inevitable ineptitude to discover it all.

Let me know of other cool stuff, I’ll post it!

Videos 8 – 15 coming soon!

Yea I’m pretty facinated by this myself, so much in fact, that when I saw “Remind Me” for the very first time, I became a fan of Röyksopp^_^ I hadn’t seen anything like it.
I love the Isometric style blended with a 70’s kinda feel. The second video on the list kinda ruined that with the 3D characters me thinks, but the rest of the video is really cool:)

Infographics is a pretty darn genius way to pass complicated information to people and make them understand it in a quick and easy manner.

Wow! I really like that videos.. After watching the royksopp video, i searched the whole internet for other videos using that infographic style.. Like Ubersnuber said, it gives me a kind of 70’s feeling (although i was born in the 80’s ;)) Furthermore i think infographics can be used very good to decribe globalization. Unfortunately i didn’t found the website of the 5H motion pictures studio.. would be very interest in other work samples of them..

    Hi There!

I remember Pork Corp had its own domain name. Don’t know what happened to it. You don’t have the name of the company/guys whom produced it, or do you?. I remember it had a site explaining the general idea. And it was a critique on corporate greed and human nature more than something specific about the pork industry.

Just to answer myself, it was Pleix… a French collective of digital artists.

You can watch all their vids over here:
